remember the color

of its wings.

this had me picturing an un-buried budgerigar. a brilliant image. very straight forward language. But so damned heartbreaking. is it just the laughter that died, or the person it belonged to- more open to interpretation than it first appears. the fact that the image is faintly ridiculous but still far from funny- kinda makes the poem real. grief has a ridiculous edge to it.
