wrestling with relapse

wrestling with relapse

A Poem by Nobody.

I

every sexy demon I’ve ever had

exorcised

            stands naked

                        outside my bedroom window

just be-

              yond

thick clear panes of excruciation

hurts to know

those old desires still burn

inside my bones

II

when these taller waves hit

salvation seems like a stone

lifeboat

Honey,

please call God

He’s listed in the dusty black

Book on the nightstand

see if He does housecalls

on th weekend

III

guess I’m not cured

after all

Never cured merely paint over the cracks until we fool even ourselves. Great piece, very thought provoking.

yes, there is no cure, but we learn to negotiate shorter and shorter leashes, until the critters can't get out of our mind

Beneath the lure of the sexy demon, I read genuine pain and hopeless despair.
The last two lines are are far too real for my mere thoughts on style and content.
