Isis

Isis

A Poem by Nobody.

Isis

we dance on the grave of a flightless laughter

caged birds always make me cry

the wounded sun bleeds like a broken ink pen

restless green grass squirms in the crimson slick

that amorous river sounds like a nightmare

slithering through the nude stalks of ancient trees

she runs her pale fingers over my awkward metaphors:

brittle twigs of the Ygdrasil tickle a old mutt's belly

she was named for a Greek goddess

raised by a Cajun Devil

vicious kisses

passionate stabs

survival instincts taste like rough sex

am I dying or falling in love?              in this broken light, the two are identical twins

she says the ghost of her heart is too threadbare to ever sail again

caged birds always make me cry

I like the mythological references entwined in this. The cracks clearly run down this as you describe the broken world and it's inhabitants.
It brings about a feeling of one of the higher realms of hell. Enough memory to catch glimpses of colour and life but still broken, dark, bloody and dangerous.

I love anything that has to do with Ancient Egypt and I love this poem. I have always enjoyed the intrigue of that time period and you captured it! Bravo!

The title is perfect for this poem and I like the layout very much - kind of matches the broken person you describe, and the love which will never sing.
