Shaving

Shaving

A Poem by Nobody.

Shaving

lost myself where timelines tangle with emotions;

the past laughs from a photo, the future taunts

from the horizon, the mirrored present cries tear lanes

through a thick white shaving cream beard.

eyes of memories, hopes, nightmares stare

through the icy haze to the hot raging core.

I walk through undefined doors to places

that have teeth with nothing to shield me,

but a stuttered prayer and a fistful of fiery

determination. I hope that, beyond the bleached

bones of regret and creeping venomous doubts,

the Truth, in her faded blue jeans, awaits my arrival.

I can never shave enough to ease the burden.

I wish, just once, the mirror would tell me a pretty lie,

and a tribal warrior tattoo would snake over my pale face.

I would love to scare the world around me instead of fearing

the world inside of me.

Wow, another amazing piece. This speaks so many truths of life and consciousness and wraps us in the razor sharp images you're so good at creating. I love the last stanza the most...it really speaks to me.

"I can never shave enough to ease the burden"
"I would love to scare the world around me instead of fearing the world inside of me"

Great work.

'Fearing the world inside of me'. Lord have mercy, do I relate to that. This is a bare knuckle introspective. Very well done.
An outstanding piece . Thank you

those words that twist and tangle, a viney curtain that pulls everything away at the end. your last two lines are lusterous, so much power in such a brief statement... of something we're all afraid of.

ahh love it! the picture is brilliant! the words - ditto - I stared at the picture for about 3 minutes thinking hmm haha before venturing onto the picture laced words - I have to agree with kerry - there is this subtle rawness - "mirrored present cries tear lanes" and "the Truth, in her faded blue jeans, awaits my arrival" - how ominous is that! ha - then a stellar last stanza to wrap it all up brilliantly!! loved it!

Reading this, I remember why I was a little scared of you when I first came across your work... something so raw and ragged in these finely polished lines.

I can never shave enough to ease the burden.
I wish, just once, the mirror would tell me a pretty lie,
and a tribal warrior tattoo would snake over my pale face...

Sometimes, I get the impression that when you write it all seems
serious, but then there are subtle feels of lines and energy that you
are secretly making fun of what you are writing. Just my own personal
opinion..lol!! I enjoyed this poem...such profound wording that makes
the reader think and absorb.

I love the ending...we do I think at times fear ourself, because on the
outside we can fake what we really feel, and on the inside we can't.

Brilliant!
First - Love the picture! Really very well done! =D

You really captured the emotion and feelings of everything perfectly in this one. The different layers and masks of people, the torn emotions running through us. Fighting to move on from the past, stride into the future ignoring all the fear and possible harm it'll bring us. Defying everyone, ourselves included. The moments of acceptance and realisation as to how we really feel, the little snippets of weakness and negative emotion. All fantastic!
