from the loveliest gallows

from the loveliest gallows

A Poem by Nobody.
"

woke up feeling like I wanted to write with some form....always a challenge for me.

"

from the loveliest gallows

our pains are balled, thick, in organic knots,

that pulse and jerk with every harsh word,

in visions of lightning; slashed and slurred,

who tied the mad noose that snapped our sad lot,

and left us in piles of dead wishes to rot.

yet, love, herself, is to blame, I have heard,

for filling our minds with dreams so absurd,

for no living soul could hold beauty this hot.

but, are we truly victims of vicious gods

and devils who move us about on a stage?

or puppets told when to shake or nod

by ghostly possessors who fill us with rage?

I doubt every theory, counting thin odds,

and fall, short, from the loveliest gallows we made.

Egad! a sonnet? I was thinking of tossing a few in today and you've beaten me to it.
I love the form, especially when it's been modernized and squeezed from a serial kisser's bold pen. The argument you present is resoundingly human and the conclusion to your questions superb. Kudos.

oh man this is lovely. i think u jus inspired me to get back into the world of sonnets. strict structure def has its pros from time to time. i think some of the commas aren't necessary yet i still like the pauses they make in the poem. this was excellent.
