![]() surviving date nightA Poem by Nobody.surviving date night she told me everything, but the most beautiful truths were eaten by my leftover anger. moonlit waves were smashing into my capsized head like a swarm of leather and knuckles. there was a strange mingle of stranger aromas on the wind: like vanilla, peppermint and rotten meat. when we pulled into the driveway she was crying and grasping her chest. I wanted to save her, but I couldn’t remember what I’d done to wound her. so, I just grabbed a cold beer and slithered into the garage. why does love so often feel like defusing a bomb? next time we have date night I’m going to hide behind offhand comments until the heartfelt firefight has subsided. for an honest man, sarcasm is the key to a long and healthy marriage. © 2012 Nobody.Featured Review
