Jade

A Poem by Scarlet Opal

Silence is seeping from under the skin,
No rest for the soul feeling this grief;
Darkness engulfs this troubled mind
I have become this crust of defeat.
Stars' pointed ends penetrate my heart,
Light of the soul fades into dust;
Night shines down to thicken the cold,
This silver heart is beginning to rust.
Loneliness laughs at my lost heart,
Clouds form wide in the moonless sky,
Blood flows out from under the cuts,
Sour jewels fall from the tips of my eyes.
Hours consume my blackened despair,
Mirrors reflect this sad broken form,
Breezes rush through to chill my last smile,
Nothing is left to make the heart warm.
Sullen harsh guilt eats at my flesh,
Never can forget all that I have done;
This lost soul has betrayed all of love,
Never will forgive what I have become.

Scarlet Opal
I wanted to play with a more strict style.

Wow.. I didn't notice the strict style however I liked what you said here. "This silver heart is beginning to rust. " I found it interesting that you chose silver as your hearts color that was really different and to me it made me feel that your heart had been wearing down even before this time. I always enjoy poems that reflect how one feels on the outside with out the masks we all have in our real lives. This was excellent.
