crepundium

A Poem by Jake Brunton
"

A childhood for many.

"
In the morning dew
a child plays
Drawing on a piece
of paper
The breath to be her last
a child lays
Wishing she could live
forever...

If she could hold a memory
of how it felt
Her situation would reassure-
Because after all, life is meaningless
and death is just part of the game

"Mama! O' mama where are you?
Why do you leave me alone?
"Mama! O' mama you promised me:
that when I died, I'd be with you-"

In the evening sun
a child cries
Writing on a piece
of paper
Before her last breath
a child prays
To be eternally
with mother

If she could retain the answer
of why she did it
Her face would be red and embarrassed-
Because her life was slow
and death seemed to never come

"Mama! O' mama you aren't here
even in life you never were...
"Mama! O' mama I shed tears
because I am lost in here-"

In the night sky
a child dances
Reading from a piece
of paper
Having had a last breath
a child sings
Of being alone
evermore...
