freak

freak

A Poem by Jake Brunton

I am not a freak, I am my true self
I am in a shell because no one accepts me
You deny me, yet you define me
Break away so I can breathe
My soul is partially gone
I'm in a weird age of understanding
But so are you

Let me break away from life.
Let me break away from this shell.
I want to be like you
I want to be with you
Guess that's not how it works for me.
Let me be free

Barbed wire on teeth, let stones define me
That's how you see me
Weird, under thy tree
Bless my soul
With a tissue
I'll try to unzip this coat
But you won't let me include you
