Chapter 2: sMASHINGA Chapter by Selenium
When I arrived at school the next day, Apphia was chasing me again as I walked to the library where I went during the 30 minutes of free time I had before the first bell rang.
"Cass! Cass! Gueessss what!" She exclaimed into my ear. I shoved her to a foots distance and pushed open the library door. "What?" I asked, a bit annoyed. "Disaster! She-" "What about her?!" I yelled. Shushes from the kids around me. "Jeez, take a pill wouldja?" Apphia remarked and took a seat next to me near the history section. "Like I was saying," Apphia said. "Disaster was on a rampage this morning. She was screaming 'bout missing a book or whatever. She tore apart the lunch room trying to find something, weird right?" I was a bit nervous. If I told Apphia what I had done, she'd get talking. Why couldn't I had just told her she dropped something? My hand drew closer to the large pocket of my backpack. "Right?" Apphia repeated, her mouth smacking a piece of strawberry bubblegum. "Y-yeah. Weird." I stuttered. "Listen, Imma go to Ms. Zerumba's classroom, they're selling cookies for fifty cents! Gotta get in before the crowd!" she smiled and darted out of the media center. ~ Third period came rolling past and I forgot to mention Disaster was in it too. She had her classes changed because I heard she got into advanced language arts. She chose a seat near me and began working on our assignment. Our teacher, Ms. Lousky, made us write an essay with the beginning sentence "A bright beam of light streaked across the summer starlit sky". I sighed, and got to writing. "A bright beam of light streaked across the summer starlit sky. I pulled back from the window as if the light was going to hit me, even though it looked like it was several miles away, but seemed so close. I took another glance at the window. The streak was gone. Just stars and the bright full moon illuminated the sky. A strong gust of wind blew and made the trees took as if they were bowing down. Crickets chirped and the world felt silent once more. I wish there was a repeat button, to see the light over and over again. A paint brush mark across the sky, if you would. Bright yellow and flashing as lightning. I shrugged, a UFO? Blimp? No, couldn't be. I took it off my mind and went back to bed, that would be a mystery to remain unsolved." When I closed my paragraph up, I felt fairly proud and presented to my teacher. Ms. Lousky scrunched her nose and rearranged the slant of her thick rimmed glasses. Her white-blonde hair was curled into a tight bun and her keys hanged from her left wrist. Today she wore a white blouse with no sleeves, and a knee short green skirt. I had no idea how she would survive, her room was freezing and we complained about how much we needed jackets. Ms. Lousky examined my paper, then to my surprise, read it to the class. We applauded with snaps instead of claps. Disaster came up and Ms. Lousky read it aloud, Disaster sulked back into her seat while Ms. Lousky did. " 'A bright beam of light streaked across the summer starlit sky. There isn't a star in the sk'-wait, what does this say?" Ms. Lousky readjusted her glasses and read again. " ' A bright beam of light streaked across the summer starlit sky. There isn't a star in the skee. The moon is missing. Sand is ticking. Titans clashing. Plates are smashing.' " Kids laughed and some snapped. Ms. Lousky pulled Disaster to the corner and talked with her. While she did, I pulled the notebook out, and stuffed it in Disaster's bag.
