The Last Day

The Last Day

A Poem by Joan Davis
"

I wrote this for my grandfather

"
You say the light is fading fast
It's running out it's almost time
Your time is short here so let's make it last
Drive to the lake and cast it out
And watch the sunset paint the sky
Our tears fall and we both know what about
Of course I'll miss you when you're gone
I'd keep you here if I knew how
It's not our choice when were called to move on
I have your smile and your blue eyes
I'll see your face when I close mine
What you taught me lives on it never dies
