Yesterday. Today.A Poem by Bryan SeftonA tableau.
Yesterday your eye beheld the light
Your joy a swallow on the wing Happiness was thrown to all you met You were such a pretty thing Today your walking stick tap!-taps! Your face, a concentration You handle your unsteady steps With intermittent hesitation Yesterday your heart sang loud Your vision swept the world Your playground many countries wide For the adventurous girl Today that country's just a street Your eye a doubtful thing The adventure's now just there and back The heart murmurs instead of sings Yesterday your story just began The page contained mere trimmings There was no form or content All your prospects, just beginnings Today you are a library Many tales held deep inside My! So many countless volumes They seem a country wide © 2022 Bryan Sefton |
