One day, while lying in the grass.A Poem by Bryan Sefton
The whirling stars seem to fade away
As the sun brings forth the waiting day And the splendour of the firmament Is pushed behind the gold raiment The jewels, carefully stored away To emerge again at the close of day And Johnny lies on his grassy bed With both his hands cushioning his head As he looks away beyond the sun To a life that Johnny hopes will run To a future way up there among The jungle worlds of this starry throng. He will leave this poor all found planet To make this his one chance and grab it And to explore all manner of worlds To sit back and watch his life unfurl And having fought all manner of foe To sit and observe his fortune grow Villains caught and so swiftly punished New lifeforms found that quite astonished Paths through the heavens, all are charted His faithful crew, all strong, stout hearted Following, singing their warlike chants All conquering. Administering grants Bringing peace to all warring natives Turning their thoughts to things creative Bringing peace to each and everyone And little children all having fun No crazy unelected mad man Creating war as only man can He'd make it clear when it is done 'All of nature must be left alone' ''All seas and oceans unpolluted' 'Trees and creatures must be protected' 'The atmosphere too must be swept clean' 'And no one to treat anyone mean' And he will tell them, when people ask "How did all this come to pass?"
