The man who never was.

The man who never was.

A Poem by Bryan Sefton
"

A man who never achieved in life.

"
A spider spinning in a cold white skull
Putting an eye where there never was one
Putting ambition where there never was any.
And reason, hanging by a thread

Face unmoving, cold and dull
Mind unmoving, void of fun
The spider moves sideways
The eye looks away

The spider moves upward, the eye shows surprise
The skull is praying to God above
Stares unblinking at the cold dead moon
Waits for an answer

The shadow of the spider on the wall of the skull
The ghost of a memory hovering on
Dies as the light of life died out
Unilluminated

The spider flutters on the steel web eye
The fly of an idea struggling there
The iris moves and the idea dies
Wasted
