To Glenys, on our golden wedding day.

To Glenys, on our golden wedding day.

A Poem by Bryan Sefton
"

A thank you to a very special person.

"
You have shared with me the day and now the day is done
The pointing finger of the clock has ticked and having ticked moved on
And on my dear,, through year after year
Summer after summer. Laughter after tear
But isn't it a day to remember, by the fireside of our evening?
That what was bad wasn't half so bad upon its leaving
But what was good was God given and given with his blessing
The sleeping children, having slept, moved on beyond possessing
And now we sit contented by the fireside of our day
And time, you swift elusive hare, how fast you slipped away
Now dear, I know you're sleepy, but I simply want to say
This has been the perfect evening to a very perfect day

Really nice work here Bryan. A fine tribute to your Glenys on a very special occasion. That is one long marriage and you have survived the ups and downs and can reflect and pat yourselves on the back. I felt the contentment here in the summing up.Loved the sentiment expressed here and your poet's voice.

Gee
Beautiful :)
A lot of hard work, patience, tongue biting, goes into the early years of marriage, this building the foundation for the many years ahead.
Have been married 30 years next October to a most wonderful lady

this reminds me of my folks....they were married for 70 years.
gives me a smile to think of them...and to see the speaker in this poem so happy and content.

Isn’t it wonderful how poems allow us to express what prose simply cannot? Nice sentiments expressed thank you
