The over thinking bank robber

The over thinking bank robber

A Poem by Bryan Sefton

He stepped into the bank and yelled
'Everybody! On the floor!'
His gun it covered all the room
Especially the door
He threw the sack to the teller
Told him 'fill it up with cash!'
And waited patiently while he used
The antibacterial wash
He'd planned the job real careful
For over a month or more
There mustn't be the slightest hitch
He couldn't go back for sure
He told them 'take it easy
Don't do anything rash
I'll be gone in sixty seconds
Soon as I get the cash'
All the customers stood there looking
All had their covid masks on
All trying to outdo the other
For what could be the latest fashion
One was printed with a smiling mouth
One with a goofy grin
One that made the wearer look
Like she had an unshaved chin
There were spotted one's and stripey ones
And colours of every shade
Some were real expensive
Some obviously home made
The onlookers eyes were puzzled
And some were pure confused
Some appeared to be laughing
And some mildly amused
Some seemed to be accusing
And some seemed quite surprised
At the thief who hadn't worn a mask
So he couldn't be recognised

LOL Talk about a stupid bank robber. This was really creative and I enjoyed reading. ~Sharon

A clever and witty poem, Bryan. Love the flow and fast paced meter here with a tale that gave me a chuckle in the end. I have seen all those stylistic covid masks myself. I guess fashion has no boundaries! An enjoyable read. 💛

Oh the tension has someone behind the scenes pressed the alarm button
is the bank going to be surrounded by armed police
Are we all going to be held hostage

So many times have I said; ging into the supermecardo "You look to have a shop full of bandits"

So now the bandits don't wear masks

Great end

Even honest bank robbers can forget their Mask... so busy with their Task.
Perhaps Balloons with Laughing Gas would divert his attention. Very Clever Poem. Pat

That is nice to hear. Have a lovely one :)
Bryan, thanks for the smile this Sunday morning. Love the way he used hand-wash yet forgot the mask. Very visual. A fun read for sure. Nice and light hearted.
