Grandma, Thank You

Grandma, Thank You

A Poem by Steven

I want to start your special day Grandma, by saying thank you

You’ve helped me to focus on what I can, not what I can’t do

How to unfeignly accept others, for who they truly are

The way you took in my mother’s the best example by far

Embracing her dearly with open arms, and no regret

The everlasting impact you’ve made, it’s no secret

Thank you for taking care of us Grandma, I’m grateful

Taught us to love even when the world is being hateful

Your strength was like the ark, held us through the flood and storm

Despite us running wild, your peace brought us all back to norm

Life wouldn’t have been this way, had you not stepped up to bat

Integrity, and wisdom, to you Grandma I take off my hat

Your smile, laughter, and presence bring us great joy

Especially the songs you would sing when I was a boy

Though you’re far away, your melody still fills my ears

Feels like you just left, even though it’s been six years

You’ll never leave my heart, no matter what I go through

I know you’re watching over me, so Grandma, thank you

Just a little something special for my grandmother on the sixth year anniversary of her passing. Looking to see what could be changed to make it better.
