But God

But God

Second chances

Glory glory, praise be! To the God who deigned to have mercy on me. Two paths lay before and one choice was given; the wrong I chose then led me far from heaven. For a time I rode in sins laden wagon, weighed down with regrets and chased by the dragon. Nose diving towards destruction at such a frightful pace that those who knew me once, wouldn't recognize my face. Alas, alas! The old story plays as the scar riddled Savior looks with pity, and says: My son, my son, too far have you wondered, return once more to the flock of my pastures. Forsake this life, it satisfies not, but multiplies misery that is ne'er forgot. O, I cry, there's no way, it's not so! How can I, so wretched, expect now to find hope? I once knew the right, and I chose it too... but now I have turned my back on the truth. The mire I left I have sought for again, and found now tis' seven times more muddy yet! I'm stuck, I'm stuck, this mud has turned stone, holding me fast to this path I so foolishly chose. I hang my head low and avert my gaze, too ashamed to look into His shining face. He looks down upon me, a gleam in His eye and says, for this, even this did I bleed for and die! I have married the backslider, and you're no exception, I am Christ, the Reconciler, here to lead you to heaven. Look to me and find rest for within is a shelter, from the cold winds of sin and dark waves of destruction. Two paths crossed then, look now, they cross again! I've brought you back to the tree where before you chose sin. Choose now, choose again! But this time choose right, choose to believe Me that you may receive eternal life. It matters not that I've given you this life once before; this Well of my Love never dries or grows thin but continues to pulse and grant life from within. Trembling and shaking, my voice but a quiver, I ask if it's true, may I verily enter? With a nod and a smile I break free from my chains and shout Hallelujah, praise be to His name! My friend if you're lost, it doesn't matter the times, simply turn to the Savior; He still remembers your name. He'll wash away the 'seven times' mud and give you new robes that shine, He's waiting for you now, just on the other side.
