"Bottles of Wine"

"Bottles of Wine"

A Poem by Luthien of the Woods
"

A poem that explains why I love this certain "hobby"

"

My penchant is collecting bottles of wine

in colors, sizes and different shapes.

Mementos of tastes I cannot forget

of reds, whites and their heady scents.

Each bottle tells of friends that I knew

events and places that I had gone to.

Like the wines I had sipped

from these empty bottles now

memories of friendships

are remembered somehow.

Sweet, aged wine

though few are bitter

makes your life sparkle,

tingle with zest

collected moments

you have in your hands

Let beauty surround you

and share till the end.

I gather from my observation of this poem that bottles of wine, which can be associate with new friends, old friends, bygone friends, and glad your gone friends. We meet many types of wines on our journey to our final home, and it is wonderful to have "Sweet, aged wine though few are bitter."

It is a paradox that those whom we choose to love the most, on the flip side of that coin, can hurt us the most; that's the bitter in the wine. Like the wines I had sipped," some people that we meet, we taste them to see if their purpose and journey is fitting with ours, if not, we allow only a little part of their life to affect us. This poem could be a book about the types of friends we meet along the way. Good work, well done!!
