Day 1

Day 1

A Poem by VERONICA

Day 1 &

Your fate is sealed

From homebirths to

C-sections

From brown to yellow

Your worth is imprinted

Inside of you

DNA

Fat lines

& barely visible ones

Each representing a fate

Your experience

“Identities”

Form the barcode

You are priced

Amerikkka’s dollar is not based

In silver and gold

But in our labor

Our ability to work

As documented at birth

Scan the code

What can you know

Based on what you see

Learn the code

Buy it like Monsanto

Objectifying existence

Your mother’s love

Or lack thereof

Will be the building blocks

For you are willing to settle for

And value in life itself
