Laundry perils

Laundry perils

A Poem by Seantesunflower

Every Wednesday is laundry day in my zoo
Its when the kids get together and separate the reds from the blues

Its also the day that I always question where
Where did those extra socks come from and whose is that underwear?

I think that they mate somewhere in the night
And make more laundry to do by light

In my pile there's one white sock with a red cuff
A bra two sizes too big and even more stuff

A shirt that says drama queen and a pair of black hose
none of which belong in any of my piles of clothes

Where it all comes from I haven't a clue
And whats truly baffling is there's a doll shoe

Its been forever since those were around
Now its trucks and cars and crayons

I must stop the clothes, they cant procreate
So at night I'll leave the light on so maybe they wont mate!

Oh, I love it! I know that Buddha said that "All of life is suffering", but as a mommy I disagree! I have come to believe that all of life is laundry! An unending, repeating cycle of laundry! And I know what you mean about it seeming to procreate!

This is a good laugh, and something a lot of people can relate to. I would urge you to submit it to a women's magazine.

He, he, he! So glad to see this problem is shared. I have 17 socks that are short of pairs! I suspect, now, that they are in your washing machine. Naughty Girl! Love your two line stanzas they make for such splendid, simple clarity! If I were you I'd find your brother and smack him in case he's the one who deliberately disrupts your washing! Great, keep it up.

If you'd like a clue as to where the odd socks go, perhaps you should read my - 'A Viking Morality Tale'. The whole history of the issue is plain to see.
