It’s raining hard outside, but Ellie still have to get out of this sickening orphanage. She’s been an orphan for twelve years now and it’s really tormenting having a violent head mistress. Tonight she plans to stowaway in the cargo going to Chicago.

Ellie successfully reached a suburb after three days of hiding in the cargo. She needed a warm place to shelter her freezing body since came from a non-snowing country. Ellie illegally enter a large empty brick house. She immediately faces the fireplace and get of loaf of bread from the pantry.

It’s getting dark as she heard whispers coming in so she instantly run upstairs and hide in one of the rooms. Little did she know that the whispers will follow her, luckily she had locked herself in a closet where she can peep through. She saw two teens kissing. “Are you sure nobody’s home?” the boy asked. “Yeah my parents are at the meeting and my twelve year old naughty brother is in a sleep over party.” She replied, “Let’s do this”, the boy said.

Ellie with her eyes wide open saw them making love, her heart beats fast and lost her consciousness. The next thing she knew is that it’s already morning, and the closet is opening.

“Ahh!” they shouted in unison. “Hey who are you?” Ellie asked, “I’m Katie, the owner of this room and the closet you are in, hey I’m supposed to ask you that question.” Katie said, “I’m Ellie an orphan and I needed a home, will you let me live here?” Ellie asked, “No!” she screamed. “Please I’ll clean the house in exchange for a shelter and my silence.” Ellie grin. “What are talking about?” “I’m not going to tell your parents about what you did last night, you know, on the floor, on the chair and…” “Shhh, shut up, ok start cleaning the house and be sure to keep your mouth shut forever!” “Promise” Ellie said.

The house is already clean when the door bell rang, “Hi mom, hi dad” Katie greeted them.” “Oh, who is she?” her dad asked, “She’s Ellie, I found her freezing outside our house and promise to clean our house I exchange for a shelter.” Katie explained. “Okay, but she’s too pretty to be a cleaner, anyway I’m Mrs. Prescott.” “Nice meeting you Mr. and Mrs. Prescott.”

The door bell rang as Katie and Ellie were preparing dinner. Katie told Ellie that it was Jeff, her brat, naughty and rude brother.

As the Prescott’s eats their dinner, Mrs. Prescott asked Ellie to join them. “Mom maids aren’t supposed to eat with us, and she looks like a jerk!” Jeff said. “Jeff stop it! Ellie join us” Mr. Prescott commanded. “Ellie can you accompany Katie to the mall tomorrow? She’s going to buy Christmas decorations and new set of clothes for you?” Mr. Prescott added. “Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Prescott, you’ve been so kind to me.” Ellie replied

The next morning Katie and Ellie went shopping. Weeks later Katie treats Ellie as her younger sister and became good friends. Jeff is still irritated with Ellie and he kept on bullying her.

It was Christmas Eve when Mr. and Mrs. Prescott told Ellie that her papers were fixed and that she’s going to enroll in Jeff’s school. Jeff became very angry when he heard the news, so he promises himself that he’s going to make Ellie’s living a hell.

It wasn’t hard for Jeff and his friends to bully Ellie since they were classmates. Ellie aces in all her subjects that made Mr. and Mrs. Prescott proud. As usual Jeff is at the bottom and became enrage with Ellie given that his parents were at Ellie’s side.

The Mid-term exam was finished; little did Ellie know that Jeff swaps his papers with that of Ellie’s. Later on everybody found it out since it wasn’t his handwriting. Jeff was very humiliated for what he did.

One evening Jeff made a false apology plus pretended to be sick and ask Ellie if she can do his project. Ellie being very kind, set aside her project to do first his’. It was already past three in the morning when Ellie finished Jeff’s project and haven’t started hers’. Jeff wake up with milk and meanly spill it over his project. “Look what you did Ellie! You’re so stupid to place my project on the floor! Now replace it before dawn breaks.” Jeff cruelly said.

Ellie knew that he mean it and just pretended to be sick since she sneaks a look at his room and saw him playing computer games in the middle of the night. She just controls her temper and made another one. She felt really alone at that moment since Mr. and Mrs. Prescott were at a business trip and Katie was in a college boarding school.

The next morning Jeff saw his project perfectly done beside his breakfast. He thought that Ellie went ahead to school. When he came to school, he immediately submitted his project. He wondered why Ellie didn’t appear the whole day.

At home Mr. and Mrs. Prescott found a letter on their bed that says:

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Prescott,

Thank you for everything. You’ve been the most kind and loving couple I’ve ever met.

But I really can’t endure Jeff’s attitude so I decided to just leave.

Please do tell Katie that she’s been a good friend and a good sister to me.

I won’t forget you.

As Mr. and Mrs. Prescott were reading the letter, Jeff came and confesses everything he’d done to Ellie.

After fifteen years Ellie is now going to Rome because she will be ordained as nun. While at the departure area, she approaches the pilot. “Are you alright? What’s bothering you? Maybe I can help since I will be nun in a few hours.” “Nothing, I just remembered someone from the past that really mold me from who am I right now. I was a bully before, a very bad son, a poor student, but when she left I learned my lesson, I became a better person, I top in class which I never experience before and became a pilot. I think I started to love her. Ellie is really my inspiration and I miss her so much. Please give me some advice sister.” the pilot said. “Jeff?” Ellie said in surprised, “Ellie! Ellie, please forgive me.” Jeff cried, “You don’t have to say sorry, I’ve already forgiven you from the day I stepped-out of your house.” Ellie said.

“Ellie will you marry me?” Jeff said accidentally. “Oh Jeff, it’s a pleasure hearing that from you but…” “Ellie can I have a word with you?” her mother superior said, “Ellie you still have time to decide, I can see in his eyes that he’d already change and he’s sincere. If you also love him we will understand and always remember that we’re always here to support whatever your decision would be.” Mother superior said.

“Ellie wake up, you’re dreaming! An American couple wanted to see you, get up and fix yourself.” Head mistress said. “So you’re Ellie? We’re Mr. and Mrs. Prescott from Chicago and we are here to adopt you” Mr. Prescott said. “Huh” Ellie gasped in surprise.
