Before entering the office I pulled out my flip phone to turn it off. The screen reads an old message from Sarah.
"I hope you get this job! You have all the love from my heart & God's heart! *kissing faces*"
Ehh... she ain't putting out.

The three men sat at the front of the wooden table. mine, the center electric chair. I was so incredibly
nervous. The anti-social spirit in me was restless.
"So... this will be your first job?"
 "Yes sir."
"You have no experience nor skills?"
"I sort of won an art competition in high school... we'll it was after high school. Like a giant cockroach mixed with the great dane I will be devout to you George. I will plow away at the cars until every inch of their insides are spotless."
"Did you quote the metamorphosis Mr. Jacobs?"
"Yes sir. Most of the time I feel like a cockroach. When my mother leaves at 2:30 pm to pick up my brother from school I hide under his mattress and playing bowling games on his DS."
Eric asked: "I'm sorry to intrude but what does this have to do with physical labor? We need strong young blood who are thoroughbred & fast."
It was awkward and silent after that last remark. I looked at my feet for long intervals.
"I'm not sure I can use you." Martin chimed in.
Sherral sat up in her seat: "Gentleman! Glenn here may not have prior experience but he has heart & youth! You NEED this man running alongside your work force! Let him build and like a fine cowboy boot we'll all be wearing hats of glass."
Everyone looked at each other with confused looks on their faces.
"I'm not sure i'm following." Said George.
 "Me neither." I replied.
George clasped his large hands together, leaned forward and glared into my eyes over his dark circular sunglasses with head bent slightly downwards.
"Glenn... you remind me of myself. I know that jobs around these parts haven't picked you up because of your handicap & lack of experience as Sherral told me on the phone yesterday. But, your spunky. A mirror of myself at 18. You got the job."
"Thank you! Thank you for this opportunity George!"
We all shook hands and began walking out back to Sherral's black junker.
"Glenn, you did a good job but I couldn't help but notice that you we're shaking a lot. You think you'd like to chew gum for your next interview?"
What does it matter I thought. I got the job but only God knew the nightmare before me that I signed up for.
As we got in her car she pulled a stick of gum out of her purse.
"Here ya go." with a big smile on her face.
