Like Trees

Like Trees

A Poem by Sean Mullen

We ran the length of the woods

Just to feel the breeze

And we finally stood

To stop and breathe

Remember those days

When we could go where we please

Never had to say

Why we went where we did

Swaying to and fro

Everywhere we go

Like trees and their leaves

We always did believe

We'd grow forever

And never glimpse the ground

We made plans

To build in trees

So we could try to stand

Beside what we couldn't see

Remember those days

When we could be what we pleased

Never had to say

Why we were who we were

Out in the barn

Just waiting for dawn

Right under the stars

Watching, believing all our dreams

Remember those days

When we could sit where we pleased

Never had to say

Why we stayed where we did

Swaying to and fro

Everywhere we go

Like trees and their leaves

We always did believe

We'd grow forever

And never glimpse the ground

I'm a still just a kid, I think, but I've been discovering a lot of things lately. I write about them. It's mostly rambling, but quite a bit is poetry. I'm not an organized person, so my thoughts don'.. more..
