come back to me

come back to me

A Poem by sea lily

we had the urge
to reconcile, a pleading.
meet me,
like we used to.
his hands get shaky with nerves but i wore the dress he liked
cut out at the back.

tea with lemon turned my stomach,
i looked at him and tried not to throw up.
i want to be yielding,
the subject
of most delicate poetry.
and i believe it
we laugh, heads pressed
twins
as he kisses my hair and arrests my eyes.
we drove into the night.

but i fed on wine,
for the best part of the evening
i had a reddened smile
and a nearly empty stomach.
these are hands
that need to be held
and in cold november
you left me on that street corner.

i believed, and we agreed.
it's not too late
to keep coming back to me.

I like these lines, I like the rhyme in it.
Very well expressed feelings in this.
It's hopeful!
