the day that the rain came

the day that the rain came

A Poem by sea lily

the day that the rain came,
i got lost in my own city.
stood huddled
ragged, drooping feathers
under the safety of
a stranger's roof.
sid,
you poked holes in my serenity.
fiddled with computer science
over cider.
gazed
over clouds of smoke.
hair like an old rope
down my back
bruised from the floor.
the day that the rain came
the day that my heart reigned
the day i traded ten queens
to get home safe.

so many nights I would have given anything to get home safe, and a few to have a home...oh, though you say it as well as the Bard himself, it will not heal by poking at it
