expendable

expendable

A Poem by sea lily

the day
she travelled far
and packed all her cases
for the big city
to see her lover
i spent
as a sycophant
for the siren of the west coast.
got bruised,
burned,
scraped,
and cursed.
i am tired
and i
am nobody's love affair.
i am making pictures
in their coffee
taking liberties
with their names.
passing by
not allowed to be strangers.
horrifically,
how was your day?
wanting
to be needed.
is anybody out there?
does anybody
even
romantically
earth-shatteringly
care?
when i have used up my smiles.
i want you
to want to
hide me from the world.

i died in a fire.

i'm beginning to think that you and "hawker" are having a contest to see who can be the most expendable...

I love this piece, and I do not have the tongue or brain to explain why for love or money.
