before sunset

before sunset

A Poem by sea lily

coffee bean,
waking before the birds.
time to shift
to your car
in the cold, cold
condensation
six,
wake me at four,
don't open your eyes.
'cause the sun hasn't risen yet
and
you don't like me when i'm tired.
she thinks she's pavlov
and i'll keep coming.
drooling
for her smile.
instead of sleeping
through the night.
with tight,
closed eyes.
because life
swept in
and took
my advantage--
time.
as the day draws to a close,
so do i
before sunset.
