A Poem by sea lily

this summer will not be the memory
of melancholy.
drifting through the rooms
of a boxed-in house
eating cereal that tastes
like the council house kitchen
in my childhood of '98
face lit up by the flourescent screen
instead of the sun.
where i found
a picture of him,
with his grandmother on the pier.
saw him as father,
son, lover,
not just a quivering male at my side.

there is a girl,
but she's making this hard.
