A Poem by sea lily

what do you want me to say?
that i just might need you.
and i want to break
every rule that i made
when i was younger
and even then
knew about growing old
with a faceless man
in a rough, work-worn shirt
and his bricklayer hands
joined by our past.
would my mind
in my old body
be happy with that?
when our bodies have run cold
and we're just hoping on a family
to justify our means
and our filthy youth.
will he know my heart?
is it fate
that threw us together
in an adolescent funk
was it love?

(if he dies before me,
will i feel anything?)
