A Poem by sea lily

don't say
you want me.
when you never used to care.
in the days of broken glass
and vodka hysterics.
popped all i could find
into my young mouth
everyone i could find
into my weak arms
and you were where?
am i easier to love,
now i can drive?
since i fixed my own life?
i am not
i am still me
just less inclined to self-injury.
closing my heart to you,
and all your charm
until i see you next
and you happen to me all over again.

i won't wait.

I love the irony and circular logic in this piece. Just as the resolve comes and the flames die down..you turned the heat back up with a surprising twist. It's not clear to me if the ending is fact, prediction, or just a fear, but it has an honesty that takes courage to admit. Carl Jung said that "We can not change a thing unless we accept it." Your poem brought that to mind. You wrote this poem in a very simple and clean way. You have a good sense for when and where to push the reader. The message in this poem gently floats through the imagination.
