A Poem by sea lily

on sunday
the day we left the city
the clouds swelled,
hugging the rain
and we twisted through the streets,
you and me
onto a road that was sunny
and let us hide our eyes from scrutiny.
the grubby buildings spoke
of a farewell,
but my longing grows
the further i get from the sea.
we sped to the south
far from the green
and the grass that held our bodies
in perfect gravity.
driving into the sun,
driving home
to where we grew
from little buds
to cast our roots.
