like me too

like me too

A Poem by sea lily

i don't want
a kind of punk-rock relationship
every fashion spread a DIY
on how to hurt each other.
(just to show we can handle it,
we're so blasé
we're cool.)
i'm not ashamed
that my heart is printed all over
'handle with care'.
that heart could take me anywhere.
and would--
the only problem
the basics of;
'i like you,
like me too?'

i'm the little girl at school
still doodling hearts
and wishing for the moon.

there are some of us here who can see you... foolish me, I keep knocking on your door, and I will...

i knew you at school though you were decades past my time - you were quiet with dark eyes of caring too much - you killed yourself when teacher embarrassed you then you ran home to mother where you lived in silence

i for one love you sea lily - i would take you to the dance with no show of force

And besides all of that - I think you are one crazy poet - the best compliment I can give a great writer!

do we ever really get rid of that little girl at school?

and then, again, do we really want her to grow up and be way too cool?
