rope ladder

rope ladder

A Poem by sea lily
"

i can't write

"
they keep her
locked in a tower
and she braids her hair
in a pale rope-ladder.
well i had my sword,
a will to fight through
a heart to love
arms strong enough to climb.
for you.
i paced under the trees
surrounding the tower
cut by the nettles
that were there to guard her.
i waited,
for an age
and found myself
without anything
to love
for it's own sake.
wrote my name
on the grey stone tower
so the next lover
would know to try harder.

no symp for your "can't write" statement; you're one of the few that make this place worth while, missy

Very good; i liked it a lot. It's not boring, as many people make the mistake of, and it seems like a twist on an old fairytale. Dont say you can't write though, of course you can, anyone can.

Wow. What a spin! You really came with a very creative concept here.
I actually liked it a lot. The energy does not leap off the page. Perhaps
that is why you are critical of it...but the pace of it all really caused
emotions to set in. IMO the best thing about this poem is how the suspense slowly builds. At the end...It shifts into a higher gear then crashes suddenly. There seemed to be hope, but it dies. Very fitting for a symbol that represents sanctuary.
