A Poem by sea lily

a boy and a girl,
on their way back to the city.
the city that pulls their strings.
when we used to fight,
it was always about
another boy
or another girl
i found a place in my heart for
despite your hand in mine.
possessive
through the night.
and with her,
i probe for a backbone
and all i find
is cold,
cold flesh.
but i try and try again.
and i remember when
he held me through the night
as my skin's blanket
his breath hot on my neck.
i think i could love anybody
if they weren't mine to have
and you could shower me in love
but i wouldn't love back.
