A Poem by sea lily

we were two tiny dolls
on a cliff-top
you loved me then,
when i was ugly.
wrapped me in your body
to keep the wind's lacerations
at bay.
with hair barely tickling my ears.
i think you wanted somebody
a bit like me
without my depression
and a nervous sexuality.
you would be ashamed
of how i am now
giving my lips freely.
and i only want you now,
at the end of our story
where you were never enough.
the one where
i reached oppression
through my true love.

To steal a line from Nick Lowe, love doesn't necessarily heal all wounds, but it does wound all heels. In a way, this reminds me a bit of a very compressed Wuthering Heights, but objective and without "a moral of the story"; it is a clear and unapologetic look at the nature of want, desire, and love. Unadorned, but far from simple. Your work just keeps getting better and better.

I like the poem. We grow in knowledge and experience. I like the beginning. Sort of innocence speaking. Then you ending a different point of view on love. A excellent poem.
