devolution

devolution

A Poem by sea lily

i spent a night
in a foreign bed
and came back to my life...

the visiting barista
saw me touch my hands
to my head.
saw i was swaying
at the bar.
put his hands on my small shoulders,
so i wouldn't fall too far.
said,
girl, i'm only trying to make you smile.
i leaned back
into the planes of his chest.
his smell--
welsh valleys male
the odour of unwashed
devolution
but the ability
for physical completion.
a heart that never strays
but a body
with the ability to sin.
back when i was sicker than this
when it extended
to my head
with its bare face
back when i was trying to be thin.

he could be
my soul's medic
if i only let him.

I agree with my good friend, the learned Mr. Hart; it is personal, but what you say is universal, and how it is said is so artful, so visual yet catching the rhythms of speech at the same time...well, it just shouldn't look that easy.

lovely...and you would conclude it way too well...three words and you are through with it... ,lovely

you never let one word stray from your purpose...my problem with that is, you don't seem to have to try...that doesn't seem fair...
