A Poem by sea lily

i fell in love at age fifteen,
and broke my mother's heart.

nobody loves like that anymore.

i think i knew even then--

broken people
belong to one another.
this was before
i'd even heard...
schizophrenia.
or bipolar.
i think sometimes we scared each other.

when i was fifteen,
i first heard the phrase
cum rag.

look back
back
to the point
where your heart
combusted.

This poem is sorrow. It's like watching tears dry into the paper a person is trying to write on, but cant find the words. You went to a dark place here and it is honestly kind of frightening. This is mostly attributed to the way innocence is violently attacked by the knowledge of the life of adulthood. The biggest reason it's powerful is because every person has something. I spotted Four themes in this poem that could be lectured about easily. Many skills make a talented writer, but you have the ability to MAKE people feel they way you WANT them to feel. This is the ultimate accomplishment of an artist. I say this poem is 100 (+1).

You are gifted.

We will continue to praise your lines...no doubt about it, the gift runs through your heart full force...good stuff, but monochromatic, like a ballerina imprisoned in her pirouette, turning around and around in perfect form, but stuck. Of course, it's not the poetry that's stuck.
