A Poem by sea lily

"I need the thing that happens when your brain shuts off and your heart turns on"
 " Elizabeth Wurtzel

i have mainy hairpins
i dig into my head.
trying to keep my hair from my eyes
so i can better see his smile.
but that's where he remains.
he's my milk and latte boy,
my mashed-potato boy.
a needs-to-let-his-hair-grow-out-boy.
the other girls would say,
just get it over and done.
(they're the observant ones.)
i might be scared,
i think.
i'd do it once.
lose my nerves.
and then do it with everybody.

and i can't remember how to love.

i used to like boys
and once again i have to admit,
i've been in love
and that wasn't it.
