dear holly

A Poem by sea lily
"

here's some entertainment i guess.

"
dear holly,
i am sorry
that we could not come to your house.

last time we watched juno,
and drank wine.
(i sipped mine.)
it was after... everything.
and the wine was free.
so i sat there, posed awkwardly.
you had a dog
called maisy.
an an orange fireplace.
i tried not to look too hard
at your face.
and hair that ended in spiderwebs.

dear holly,
i am sorry
that i ignored your message.

i used to message a boy,
and concocted romance in my head.
the truth is,
i prefer typed romance instead.
and you had me writing poetry
and some stupid time
like three.
and stopped my sleep.

dear holly,
i am sorry
that i made you feel guilty.

or tried to.
i wasn't really annoyed with you.
maybe because half-naked
isn't my type
maybe my type
was on a screen
in black and white.

dear holly,
i am sorry
that you're with my best friend.

because now,
i get watched
in every moment that we spend.
and i can't smile
or ask about your day
because they want me to hate you
and i can't find a way.

dear ellie,
you've no need to be sorry
but if you did
i'd forgive you anyway

:) i love all your writings.

wow. This is an amazing poem. This would make a great song.
i used to message a boy,
and concocted romance in my head.
the truth is,
i prefer typed romance instead.

These lines really stood out to me. It gives me the image of a person who drives directly to a date..but takes the long way home to reflect about the great time they had. This is a nice poem that tackles deep emotions in a light hearted way.
