ten years

ten years

A Poem by sea lily

in ten years' time,
i will be allowed to walk in the dark.
i will sleep in my own bed,
cook in my kitchen,
tie my hair back from my head.
i wish to have a cat-friend,
who climbs in through the balcony window
in the middle of a storm.
and when it's cold outside,
we'll play scrabble
and drink hot chocolate.
i will be allowed to eat marshmallows.
i'll have learned guitar,
will croon to my very own emma.
put my poor lines to chords.
canvas upon canvas gracing the room,
my canvas,
and dancing girls by degas.
then maybe,
i'll be a backpack in your hallway,
and in ten years' time
i'll be loveworthy.

I really liked this poem ..very indicative of someone who puts the good things always one step ahead of them.. sort of sad and hopeful at the same time.
