tentA Poem by sea lily
that night,
in our makeshift beds, rain snuck in, over our restless heads. slid through the openings, curling around our lungs like snakes and turning our feet into ice. desire was misplaced by an instinct to survival, and so, you imparted your heat to me. the heat that i was missing, and i grabbed it greedily. yet in the morning my bootlaces slid through our palms like worms. so we returned to bed. your arm tucked around my bare side i've resigned; with a smile. to a memory of that dismal night, the leftover press of your scent. © 2009 sea lily |
