trust

trust

A Poem by sea lily

trust me,
how can i trust mercury?
when eyes empty
and lips withdraw
and i begin to believe
you can't like me like this
anymore.
i know that i love you,
so still, steady breath
head cradled
against my breast.
but i can't have faith
the sole defect.
it's hard to overcome,
no betrayal from one.
the scouring of hope,
and in it's place
a cynic's gaze.
but since, i could survive
i built this life
around your foundations,
so i plead,
don't tear this from me.
let me stay,
let me keep.

it's a long process
a slow undress.
