A Poem by sea lily

if i could speak, i'd say:
rest, dear heart.
lean, dear heart.
as your nose grazes mine,
as your thumbs shadow mine...
and we don't quite reach.
beneath an ancient caricature
those hands don't plague me,
instead pluck delicately
at strings and songs.
but such peace is not mine
it soon must fall apart.
so i crouch against stairs, i sit
and watch and hope and wish.
heart poised, lips following slowly,
i could be your one and only.
