to beA Poem by sea lily
i paraphrase, so she says;
'i'd rather not be you i'd rather not delve where places get too dark' and i laughed, because she finally knows. but i can trudge, i can plant one foot on the ground then move another. i can paint, and i can sketch find my life in faded greys or a symphony of colour. and i can love until the ache becomes joy and mingles with our breath and our tears. i can become assimilated into a song, or a verse and embellish a feeling. what does she see? she sees a stumbling step where some nights there's a spring. a blank stare, where brightness can lurk. she sees the lovers float in and out, sees only smiles, where fragmentation falls. a disease that i call living. and so, i'd rather not be her. © 2009 sea lily |
