A Poem by sea lily

old friend--
you said yourself,
leaning against radiators
laughter contorting our speech
forever our interactions
have been beyond this.
never lover--
he looked on as i kissed you once
as i kissed you many times
it was a game for us
it was a taunt for him.
frightened child--
we peeled back bedsheets
you sobbed with shock
they looked on in horror
i gathered your shaking shoulders
and soothed them through
the paralysis of drink.
absent girl--
our storms have refreshed us
never weathering us
renewing us.
with your pinched little face
mouth twisted in all directions
you still refuse to run.
