freak show

freak show

A Poem by sea lily

come with me, ladies, gentlemen
i've a treat for you tonight
the freaks of mistress' circus
who once brought her such delight.
do not be alarmed, my friends
they're safe within a cage
she locked them up, safely away
within words on a page.

the blonde boy with the pointed chin
he was a sight to see -
he kissed her fair and virgin lips,
he helped her to be free.
but now he's rotting from within
a drugged and dried up husk
she shivers at her memories
his dead embrace, tobacco musk.

the painter lasted two months
in my dear mistress' care
i ask you not come too close,
he has signs of wear and tear.
his eyes they bulge so ugly
from the loathsome mind within
this one tempted fair mistress
with debauchery, and sin.

the skinny one with pretty eyes
he led her through the years
he took her heart, he held her hand
he dried her drunken tears.
so many times he was the cause
he tried to spend the night
he cheated, lied, he broke her trust
he thought that he was right.

the arrogant fool you see tonight
seducer, joker, thief
his sickening tales, his sordid deeds
that ruined her belief.
be careful around him, ladies
for his tongue is cunning still
he'll take you all, he'll strip you bare
he'll break you with his will.

perhaps the finest yet tonight
the angel at the end
she called mistress with loving words,
under the guise of friend.
mistress keeps her blindfold
she cannot bear the sight
of the open eyes, the steady gaze
of the one who soon took flight.

so here we have in total
four demons, a lady fair
without them, surely mistress
would live life without a care.
her memory confines them
from the painful, glaring light
thus, ladies and gentleman,
i bid you all goodnight.

That's it! I'm starting my own circus, zoo and sideshow. I've got enough characters to fill a small country with freaks and geeks and a*s clowns of all sorts. Brilliant idea. Once again, I enjoyed. Thank you!
