A Poem by sea lily

uncertain steps
on sloping ground
head swimming
a narcotic trance
wincing at the memory
but numb to the pain.
eyes, hands, hair, heart
paltry offerings
for my stranger-sweetheart
in return for my averted gaze
and my crippled mind.
thighs, arms, hips, chest
the stakes go up
and my sense plummets
with every gasping breath
with every yielding thought.
