penarth

A Poem by sea lily

endlessness, wide opiate
my solution, for a time
and the strings feel comfortable
under fingers gradually numbing
despite the roaring fire
the smoke wafting over, my eyes squint
into the core of the blaze.
and the rain patters on my exposed legs
eagerly wandering over to the tide
and feeling the frozen rush around my ankles
and the peace of my atmosphere.
the stones jaggedly broke into my soles
and i lay there with numb feet and an empty heart
like a lone ship out there in the darkness
amongst the repetitive lights and the cloudy night.
but better this than the other side
and huddled in his car and swerving
bass pounding and the perpetual sensation
of compression and wholeness
and the icy touch on my tongue.

It sounds like someone had a memorable time at the beach. Nice writing, Ellie.
