Down a long dark path

• Down a long dark path we traveled, sometimes hand in hand, but mostly not.
  Together we chose this,what was it we sought?
  
  Naive and unaware, we sold our love to the Devil.
  We traded our pure love for angst and upheaval.
  
  But travel we did, never trying to go back.
  We traveled further, of our way, we lost track.
  
  The path grew dark, dreary and ominous.
  We couldnt see our way as we groped in the darkness.
  
  Sometimes holding each other,but mostly not.
  Together we chose this,what was it we sought?
  
  When, finally, we realize the err of our way,
  we cling to each other, we cry and we pray.
  
  
  We are frightened and hold one another tight.
  But deep down we both know, it is no longer right.
  
  I reach for your hand, but it is no longer there.
  I have lost you, I just wish I knew where.
  
  I walk alone as the path turns from dark to light.
  I panic,Where are you?!!Somehow,I know itll be all right!
  
  I recall a day when together we stood.
  Two souls united, it never felt so good.
  
  We were made for each other,our love was so pure.
  Down a long,dark path we traveled,I wonder, how did we get here?
  
  Together we chose this, but today I stand alone.
